The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released several important updates affecting candidates, institutions, and the 2025/2026 admission cycle. Below are the key highlights you should know.
1. JAMB Extends 2025 Admissions Deadline for Public Universities
JAMB has officially extended the 2025 admission deadline for public universities. The decision was made after several institutions appealed for more time to process admissions, especially those with newly accredited programs.
The extension gives schools additional room to finalize their admission lists for the current academic session.
2. Public University Admissions Now Closed
Despite the earlier extension, JAMB has now closed the admission window for all public universities for the 2025/2026 session.
However, admissions into other categories of institutions are still ongoing:
Private universities – Admission continues until the end of November.
Polytechnics, colleges of education, and monotechnics – Their admission window remains open until December 31.
Candidates seeking admission into these institutions still have time to secure placement.
3. Over 2,600 Admissions Declared Illegal
JAMB has flagged more than 2,600 admissions from about 17 institutions as illegal.
These admissions were reportedly conducted outside JAMB’s Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), making them invalid.
The Board has emphasized that any admission not processed through CAPS will not be recognized, urging institutions to strictly follow official procedures.
4. JAMB Submits Records to Lawmakers Over UTME Probe
Following concerns raised about the conduct of the 2025 UTME, a committee of the House of Representatives requested documents from JAMB.
The Board has now submitted all required materials, including financial and operational records, to support the ongoing investigation.
